A slow start to the season

Man and van a huge success… almost to good and not enough hours in the day to fit jobs which were all over Scotland from Moving sofas/domestic goods from seller to buyer or new home owners, to builders trips to the tip and regular trips to the scrap yard. Helped build some capital for expenses for the first few events along with the support of sponsors CRGP ltd & Concept Financial Advisors.
When starting your own enterprise something’s got to give. When the pounds are coming in it’s hard to knock back the work and unfortunately my golf preparations at the start of the season took the hit which showed in the first 4 event- Frilford Heath, Harleyford, Studley Wood & Montrose all missed cuts however when the tournaments went on the better I played.
After being on the receiving end of some pretty poor results I decided to take it easy on the work off the course and got the hours back in on the course which have of course proved dividends. Clevedon Golf Club a new course on The Euro Pro Tour this year and the home of sky sports golf pundit John E Morgan who was of course the tournament host. A course to be honest I wasn’t expecting to be very good built around a hill south of Bristol measuring 6500 yards. Thought it was going to be the Windyhill of Somerset. Indeed I was wrong only 3 or 4 holes were fairly slopey the 7th being one where I thought it would have been a good idea to eat a sandwich walking up the fairways , breathing like an asthmatic Labrador and down the 8th which played 50 yards gradient down hill… for the less educated put there this means your tee shot went 50 yards further ( hit a 6 iron off the tee which went the distance of my 3 iron ) .
Anyways how did I get on made my first cut of the season and finished in tied 14th place on 5 under par for the tournament. My fellow two travel companions had great events Ryan Campbell tied 3rd -10 and Brendan Mcarroll got piped in a play off to finish 2nd so not bad company to be hanging out with. I’m sure we will be able to bring each other’s games on as the season goes on from playing practice rounds, working on our games before and after rounds and being a pair of ears to chat to over a cold beer!
A marathon of Golf coming up from me now Euro Pro Tour events every Wed- Friday for me up until end of July , The Open qualifying over next week or so and ASI Scottish Open Qualifying at Longniddry GC on 7th & 8th July & of course the leading development Tour in world Golf Big Johnson’s Tour!
